The Workshop

Hi!

This week (today, actually) we had our workshop where first, after describing the basics of our game, we asked the participants to write down some questions, ideas and problems they would identify in our game. Later, we had them act out a pre-written scenario of gameplay by asking them some questions after each step to know what they would do in those situations. Finally, they were asked to take a different personality and stick to it while answering each question (either be positive about it, creative, pessimistic or just honest), this is a well-known method called Six Thinking Hats.

This all proved very helpful to our project, the participants were very interested in helping and engaged in interesting discussions, providing good ideas and raising important questions which our team should address soon in a more private discussion. I'd highlight the dilemma we still have regarding the final part of the game: what information should the players have access to? Should they know how many are still alive and when should they know how many players are needed to win the game? And how should we approach the access to the portal room? Most of the answers will probably only come after we prototype those scenarios but I'm curious to know how this will change in the following weeks.

Besides that I haven't been very productive but I've been watching some videos about level and puzzle design and some gameplay from other games to get some inspiration for more challenge rooms and next week I'll try to create the first one in Unity.

Bye for now!
